The Carrion Herd

from OCTOPUS part 3 by Adam Leonard

/

lyrics

Here they come in their tomato shirts
Over graves like carrion in herds
Challenging germ theory as they run
So sorry that I missed you and your gun

Now a bee is trapped inside my skull
Like the cage which holds the screaming gull
Huge machines in deep space orbiting
Saturn, tending to her rainbow rings

Eden’s engine powered by final breaths
Runs on pictures signalling your death
After building churches, miming hymns
The ghost is leaving, dripping from my skin

Seize the granite vine and swing to me
Through the pelvic floor of energy
Out into the turquoise flashing sky
Silhouettes a deep blue dragonfly

The carrion continue on their way
Why’d you never have a thing to say?
Othersiders yell to sabotage
Your head of petals and your camouflage

The liner’s on the roof, it did capsize
It’s path illuminated by cats eyes
All tomato shirts merge into one
The engine sparks and spurts and then it’s gone
