The Archaeologist (band version)

from OCTOPUS part 3 by Adam Leonard

/

lyrics

The archeologist
Loosened his grip and dismissed
The biggest scoop of the century
Didn’t know that he might be

Inside the future’s history books
Framed with his dashing looks
Holding up his discovery
A face that cried out worship me, worship me

But his conscience said
Well, is that it?

No he thought – this can’t be
What it appears to be
For that would fly right in the face
Of all we know of time and space

So he labelled the artefact
‘Anomalous’ and he packed
His find into a box
Of low green light and equinox

And his heart repeated
Well, is that it?

When it was safely hid
Between glass and wooden lid
He had a feeling deep inside
A faded flashback, something died

He feared that the eclipse
Signalled apocalypse
Blinked into the morning sky
Of empty dreams and alibi

And the voices echoed
Well, is that it?
